1.
Locked into a light like a captured moth doesn't anyone ever shut it off? My frozen face is bound my eyes are double crossed doesn't anyone ever shut it off? All these broken prayers they all sound the same they all sound the same Now I show a smile like a hidden flask the motions and the music of the distant past coming to the end and I feel it coming fast the motions and the music of the distant past

Summer sun she dances underwater opens up her wings and flutters on she's a bird that dives into a wave draws a light out from a singing cloud all the answers hover like a feather all the world explains it all together all the answers hover like a feather and all the world exhales together Summer sun she dances underwater
4.
Hey Mr. Vision, do you ever listen to the creeks and to the calls and the water as it falls? Could you build a favor? We can name it later and cast it in the sea, have a current set it free Hey Mr. Moon, did you show your face too soon? Let us begin, my angry friends Turn up, tune in, my angry friends Let us begin, the shouting gentleman is in Let us begin for the shouting gentleman Let us begin for the shouting gentleman
5.
I'm in two places at once some scratched up somber song I'm caught up in a tree but I won't be there for long While underneath my head there's a heat that stays unseen it's there to draw me in to the shelter of my dream I'm in two places at once you are there within and you are on the page and you're singing me a hymn I'm in two places at once and my head's between my hands
6.
I have a gift I've saved for you I have no use for it anymore a folding chair and a string of lights in a tiny room that was my throne (Peace has settled like dust) The arms that cradle the moon holding still, but moving soon (Peace has settled like dust)
7.
You fell into the arms of a city at night your visitors they shroud you and sharpen their tongues A tower that will guide you A flower that will fade on top of a magnet a study in flame --- His only wake to a person with all the points well, luxury fails luxury fails and I'm pardoned with a ghost and I'm painting with lines I understand

about

Waterbirds is a couple years in the making. I've actually done this type of electronic music going back many years, it's just been on the side. I didn't take those types of songs seriously in the past. They were silly and slightly embarrassing and have been mostly scrubbed from the internet. But for this set of tracks (and the dozen or so songs that didn't make the final cut), I was dead serious. I asked myself early on, what would happen if I really spent a lot of time crafting these songs instead of simply messing around? My process was unusual. Things would usually start with a keyboard improvisation that I would edit together into something. Then I'd tinker with more keyboards and beat programming. Instead of coming in with a preexisting song, these instead were grown like a plant.

The result is Waterbirds. I hope you like it.
